Carneiro criticizes "enemies of democracy" and those who sold their "souls to the devil"

José Luís Carneiro spoke tonight at the rally to present Nuno Mocinha's candidacy for Elvas City Council, which he lost in 2021, and expressed his conviction that the PS will not only recover this municipality but will also emerge victorious on election night on October 12.
"What I see in the other candidates, in the other projects, some are against the democratic system itself, against democratic institutions, others are currently aimless and also seek to take advantage of media manipulation to try to achieve immediate results, without worrying about what is truly strategic for the future of our country," he said, taking aim at Chega and the PSD, without ever mentioning the parties' names.
The PS leader insisted that "democracy is not a game" and that "there are many enemies of democracy in the world today."
"And there are those here in the country who also allow themselves to be manipulated and have already sold their souls to the devil," he accused, in a new implicit criticism of the AD Government.
Carneiro sees in the candidacies that his party presents "a response to the needs of communities," and from here it is possible to build "solutions for life and the future" for Portugal.
The PS leader argued that "it is from the local authorities that the future of the country is built."
"And, therefore, I strongly believe in local elections, because I believe that it is through them that we can build the future of our country," he said.
Showing confidence in the PS mayors, Carneiro asked the socialists for "a campaign with great ethical elevation and moral elevation."
"And that they seek, in the performance of their duties, to know that they are our interpreters, the interpreters of the values that ensure that future generations can continue to believe in our values, in the values of the Socialist Party," he appealed.
